E-BIKE ELECTRIC SYSTEMYOUR PARTNER FOR E-BIKE SOLUTION

AVNU Multi-Batteries Management System (AVNU™ BMS)

With the development of e-bike systems, an increasing number of use cases have emerged, such as hiking, off-road riding, and racing. At the same time, there is a growing demand for models equipped with high-capacity and multiple battery packs.

Traditional BMS (Battery Management Systems) and commonly used balancers on the market cannot perfectly match the current electronic control systems. Due to the physical characteristics of the battery cells, this approach cannot alter the discharge logic of the battery and passively selects the discharge battery based on the charge status.

During system operation, the discharge switching between batteries equipped with balancers introduces a new issue: back electromotive force(BEMF).

When motor is rotating at high speed and the drive current is discon-nected, BEMF can occur. Since the balancers commonly used are single-direction voltage output devices, depending on the motor's power and speed, the BEMF back to the system's power circuit can suddenly increase by 20V or higher.

If the voltage tolerance standards of the system components are insufficient, this can cause severe damage to system parts, posing significant safety risks to users.

After years of research, development, testing, and validation by our hardware and software engineers, we have developed a solution that perfect-ly addresses the current issues: AVNU Multi-Batteries Management System (AVNU™ BMS). To ensure consistency in functionality and logic between multi-battery discharge and single-battery discharge, we have adopted a self-developed ICC (Inter-Cells Communication) mode to solve the challenges of discharge control and logical interaction between batteries.

Discharge can switch between the following three modes:

Mode A: Discharge from Battery A only

Mode B: Discharge from Battery B only

Mode D: Alternating discharge between multiple battery groups

Due to differences in cell performance, health, and charge levels, achieving complete consistency is challenging. In Mode D, our software engineers have developed the DBI (Dynamic Balance Interaction) algorithm. This dynamic balancing algorithm establishes an intelligent recognition logic within the system to detect battery status and switch between discharging batteries, ensuring that the relative charge levels of all battery groups remain as consistent as possible.

After tens of thousands of tests and validations by our hardware engineers, we have constructed a unique BEMF-G hardware system. Paired with this algorithm, it perfectly resolves the risk of hardware damage caused by Back EMF.
